Community ClinicsThere are more than 600,000 or 17 percent of Orange County’s residents who are uninsured and even more who are underinsured. Those who cannot pay often go without health care until their condition deteriorates to the point that they must seek emergency medical care. Some of the area community clinics average 3 paramedic runs in a single day! We are honored to contribute to the needs the underserved of Orange County by providing access to life-saving Automated External Defibrillators. Schools and Churches
On an average day in the United States, as much as 20 percent of the combined adult and child population can be found in schools. A school environment is very much like a mid-sized community populated with students, teachers, staff, coaches, volunteers, parents and visitors. Many community, public meetings and sporting events are held at schools. Hundreds and thousands of adults, the elderly and young people are consistently filling our campuses for extended periods of time.
Fitness Centers and Golf CoursesFitness Facilities are known as one of the ten most common places sudden cardiac arrest occurs. The chance of suffering a cardiac arrest is 17% percent greater during or immediately following exercise. In young people (under the age of 35) it is even higher. In fact, 41% of cardiac arrests occur in young peolple during athletic events or during exercise in that age group. One study in Ohio found that 17% of fitness centers reported at least one sudden cardiac arrest over a five-year period, but only 3-percent of the facilities had AEDs. First RespondersThe Ray of Life Foundation has established an Early Defibrillation Program for first responders. The goal is to save as many victims of cardiac arrest as possible. Our primary method is to assign officers/first responders equipped with automated external defibrillators to respond to cardiac-related medical calls. Officers assigned to these calls are directed to respond as quickly as is safely possible in order to begin prompt patient assessment and initiate early defibrillation and CPR if necessary.
